Thirteen foundation types from one ground model. Shallow: pad, strip, combined, strap (cantilever) and ring / annular footings for chimneys and tank ringwalls. Rafts and mats: flexible rafts on a Winkler subgrade, rigid mats by the conventional strip method, compensated (floating) basements and piled rafts with load sharing. Deep and special: pile caps by bending and truss analogy, well foundations for bridge piers with Lacey scour, grip and lateral stability, floating box, open and pneumatic caissons, and block machine foundations with natural frequencies, resonance and vibration amplitude. Every type gives checks, calculation sheets, drawings, a 3D model, Excel and a priced bill of quantities.
Scope & limitations
Preliminary foundation design for study and feasibility. The ground model must come from a site investigation; have the design checked by a qualified geotechnical and structural engineer.
What the Foundation Studio does
Thirteen foundation types share one ground model (drained c', φ' or undrained cu, water table, geotechnical reduction factor). Shallow footings: pads with moment, shear and wind uplift, strips, two-column combined footings, strap (cantilever) footings at a site boundary and ring / annular footings for chimneys, towers and tank ringwalls with hoop tension.
Rafts and mats: flexible rafts as plates on a Winkler subgrade, rigid mats by the conventional ACI 336.2R strip method with contact pressure, strip moments and punching, compensated (floating) basements with heave, flotation and base-slab uplift, and piled rafts by the Poulos–Davis–Randolph method with load sharing and a load–settlement curve.
Deep and special foundations: pile caps from two to nine piles with pile reactions, bending and truss-analogy ties, shear with short-span enhancement and punching; well foundations for bridge piers with Lacey scour, grip length, steining thickness, IRC 45-style lateral stability, bottom plug, sinking effort, tilt and shift; floating box caissons (draft, freeboard, metacentric height, sliding and overturning under waves), open caissons with tremie seals and pneumatic caissons with working-chamber air pressure and blow-up checks; and block machine foundations with vertical, rocking, coupled and torsional natural frequencies, resonance margins, amplitudes and vibration velocity.
Every type: calculation sheets, A3 drawings, 3D model, Excel and a priced Cost & BOQ
