Plan the site before the first truck arrives. Lay out hoardings, gates, sheds, laydown and the new building stage by stage; drive design vehicles through the gate and watch their swept paths, with every clash, kerb strike and tight turn flagged; place tower cranes and check coverage, lifts, oversail and interference; count deliveries and concrete trucks, find where people cross vehicle routes, and price the preliminaries — with a 3D site, an A3 drawing set, DXF swept paths and a bill of quantities.
Scope & limitations
Planning tool. Swept paths are kinematic at walking speed (no reversing, scrub or camber) using editable approximations of the code design vehicles; crane capacities are indicative curves. Confirm critical manoeuvres with the code templates or a site trial, lifts with the manufacturer's load chart and a lift plan, and permits with the road authority.
What the site logistics & swept path studio does
Lay out the site plan for each stage of the job: the boundary, neighbouring buildings, the new building, the street and its kerbs, hoardings, fences and barriers, and every facility — site office, crib room, toilets, first aid, laydown, containers, skips, wash-down bay, pump pad, hoist, parking, gates and the traffic controller. Every item carries the stages it exists in, and everything on the plan can be dragged.
Swept paths: pick a design vehicle from the code's set — AS 2890.2 SRV, MRV, HRV and 19 m articulated vehicle, AASHTO SU and WB semi-trailers, FTA rigid and 16.5 m artic, RHD trucks, a concrete agitator or a mobile crane — and draw the front-axle path. Corners are rounded to the vehicle's minimum radius, and the rear axle and trailer follow by tractrix (pursuit) kinematics in 0.1 m steps. The studio reports the steering angle against the vehicle's limit, off-tracking and swept width, and finds every clash of the body with buildings, sheds and hoardings (with the code clearance) and every wheel that runs over a kerb, then animates the vehicle along the path. Turning templates for 45°, 90°, 120° and 180° turns compare all the vehicles.
Tower cranes: capacity with radius, coverage of the building, each lift from the laydown to the slab with its utilisation, the area oversailed beyond the boundary and over neighbours, and jib overlap between cranes with the vertical separation needed.
Deliveries by trade with the peak hour and loading-bay utilisation, concrete pours (truck interval and fleet), pedestrian routes and where they cross vehicle paths, amenities for the workforce, a 3D site with the building rising by stage and the vehicle driving its path, an A3 drawing set per stage, DXF of the plan and swept envelopes, Excel, calculation sheets and a priced preliminaries BOQ.
