Water network studio

Design a town water supply network. Draw it or start from the sample, drag the nodes to shape it, and the studio solves the hydraulics for every scenario, runs the peak day hour by hour with the tank and pump, checks pressures, velocities and fire flow against your code, sizes the pipes, the storage and the thrust blocks, checks surge, and prices the job — with an A3 drawing set, Excel workbook and report.

Scope & limitations

For planning, preliminary design and education. Results depend on demands, roughness and elevations; calibrate against field pressure and hydrant flow tests and follow the water authority's design standard and model.

What the water network studio does

Draw the network on the plan: reservoirs, tanks and junctions joined by pipes and a pump. Drag any node and the pipe lengths and the hydraulics follow; click a node or pipe to inspect and edit it, colour the plan by pressure, velocity or diameter.

Hydraulics use the global gradient algorithm (the method behind most network solvers) with Hazen–Williams or Darcy–Weisbach friction and minor losses. Scenarios: average day, peak day, peak hour, night static and fire flow, plus a 24-hour extended period simulation on the peak day with demand patterns, tank levels and pump on/off control you can play hour by hour.

Fire flow adds the code fire demand at the hydrant you pick and finds the available flow at every hydrant for the residual pressure; automatic sizing upsizes the steepest pipes to standard diameters until pressure, velocity and fire criteria pass.

Design: storage from the mass curve plus fire and emergency reserves, pump curves with efficiency and energy cost, Joukowsky surge against pipe ratings, thrust blocks at bends, tees and dead ends under the field test pressure, quantities and cost, and the construction sequence with hold points.

Outputs: an A3 drawing set (plans, HGL, 24-hour charts, pump, fire, storage and details), an Excel workbook with live Hazen–Williams, storage, surge, thrust and energy formulas, a network text file and JSON.
